DESCRIPTION COLORATION |
This animal's body, head, and tail are all a similar diameter. The head is small. The tail is very short. This burrowing python also has an enlarged nostril scale to aid in locomotion under the ground. Coloration is red - brown with lighter redder colored spots. The head and tail are darker.

Burrowing - this snake is known to burrow under the ground as well as under leaves and other debris. Shy & reclusive. Nocturnal.

This python will curl into a ball for defence similar to that of Ball Pythons. The Burrowing Python's tail resembles it's head.

Small mammals, lizards.

IN CAPTIVITY

This snake is not very commonly kept in captivity. Recommendations on captive needs as well as success of the species in captivity vary greatly.
