Northern Australia, Papua New Guinea

HABITAT |
Open dry forests, tree covered steppes.

LIFESTYLE |
Arboreal, diurnal, solitary. Males are territorial and aggressive.

DEFENSES |
This lizard will spread it's frilled ruff in an attempt to appear larger in order to ward off predators. It may also hiss and flick it's tail back and forth.

PREDATORS |
Lizards, birds, snakes, and mammals.

FOOD |
Insects, spiders, small mammals, eggs
|
BREEDING |
Breeding normally occurs in early spring. The female will lay 2 to 8 eggs which hatch after 8 to 12 weeks.

Males should not be kept together due their aggressive territorial nature.

Chlamydosaurus kingi is not currently in danger of extinction.
